A/Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the National University of Singapore (NUS) A/Professor Dutton has been in clinical practice since 1996 after graduating from Marist College, Canberra and the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. 

A/Professor Andrew Quoc Dutton has held medical registrations in Australia (NSW Medical Board, since 1998) and Singapore (Medical Council, since 1999). Dr Dutton has been a continuous member of the Australian Medical Association since 1998. His qualifications include ECFMG certification (1997) and provisional registration in Massachusetts (2006-2007). Since 2007, A/Professor Dutton has been affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital as a Harvard Medical International Certified Referral Physician.

He worked at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney and the St. George Hospital, Sydney before completing his orthopaedic surgery training in Singapore. He completed his subspecialty training and was on staff at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. During this time he was trained in complex surgeries of the Hip, Shoulder and Knee, while caring for patients who came for treatment from all across the USA and the staff at Harvard University.

Dr. Dutton is the first surgeon in Singapore to perform hip arthroscopy with labral repair. Moreover, Dr. Dutton is the first in Singapore to perform the Single Tunnel Double Bundle Intrafix ACL reconstruction.

In yet another first for the country, Dr. Dutton has successfully performed hip replacement using the surgeon-controlled Intellijoint HIP navigation tool for total hip arthroplasty. This makes him the first in Southeast Asia to implement the intelligent navigation system—a technology that significantly improves the accuracy of hip replacements.

These milestones reflect A/Professor Dutton’s role in adopting and integrating new technologies into clinical practice.
